Testimonials

 by Alan and Judith Higbee

I just wanted to drop you a note to say how much I enjoyed hearing your young student play Toccata and Fugue in D Minor on piano at the blood drive, and our brief conversation about him afterward.  I had come with my wife who was giving blood, and planned to look at the classic cars while I waited, but wound up just listening to him instead.  I also enjoyed hearing you play while we ate lunch, and on our way home we heard your other student on the radio, a young woman playing I believe the Moonlight Sonata - she too did a wonderful job.

I think I have had contact in one way or another with at least half a dozen music schools during my adult life, and the Aurora School of Music is above and beyond any I've encountered.  The courtesty and professionalism of the administrative and teaching staff are first rate.

Thank you for bringing more resources for private music instruction into our town.  Also, I admire your courage to break out of the box and provide an actual arena for the art of "rock and roll".  Unless there are respected, intelligent musicians that are willing to be flexible enough to provide a strong foundation for new music styles that our children want to listen to and pursue, then the kids will lose interest and not understand the connection of music history to the present.
The enjoyment and appreciation of music as a whole can only be achieved if you are willing to listen in the first place, no matter what style is being played.   Unless private music education is willing to adjust to the needs of this generation of kids, we'll lose a lot of them because we're unwilling to change our methods.
Thanks for providing safe venues for all our young budding musicians here in Aurora.  Your energy and commitment is infectious!  Good luck with the School of Rock AND the traditional school you have already provided.

It was amazing to see how well the kids did not only in their technique
but in their spirit and their excitiment and love of what they were
doing.  You could just tell "mom and dad weren't making me do this..."
They truly loved what they were doing.  That comes from good teachers.

"...I have always wanted to improve my skills on piano, an instrument I grew up playing. Thanks to the lessons at ASM, I have been able to enhance my level of playing and take it to a new level. The faculty are dedicated artists and teachers and a joy to work with..."

"...my daughter has come a long way toward learning to play the piano well as a result of the skillful instruction she recieved at the Aurora School of Music. The regular recitals (every 12 weeks) keep her focused on achieving short term goals which has meant remarkable progress within the short period of one year..."

"...in the short period of 1 year, my daughter has gone from playing five finger melodies on the piano to playing concert repertoire from Bach, Chopin and Tchaikovsky...and she loves every minute of it! You must be doing something right! Keep up the good work. Best Wishes!
