Julie Beistline is quickly gaining recognition as an adventurous performer with a wide-ranging repertoire. She is currently completing her master's degree in violin performance and Suzuki Pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Stephen Rose, principal second violin of the Cleveland Orchestra. In 2010, she completed a bachelor of music degree in violin performance at Brigham Young University (BYU) while studying with Eugene Watanabe, director of The Gifted Music School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As a versatile performer, she has spent time as a studio musician, recording soundtracks to documentaries featured at the Sundance Film Festival and major motion films. She has also recorded with alternative and rock bands on both her acoustic and electric violin. In 2010, she was contracted as the "Fiddler" in a live acting/performing role for Hale Center Theatre's production of
"Fiddler on The Roof" in Salt Lake City, Utah. Julie is currently performing with orchestras in the Cleveland area, including the Blossom Festival Orchestra.
In addition to performing, Julie is a passionate violin teacher. She is a registered Suzuki teacher through the Suzuki Association of America. She has spent most of her teacher training under the direction of Kimberly Meier-Sims and Dr. Gail Johansen. She has completed teacher training at summer workshops in Fairbanks, Alaska; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Toronto, Canada. Julie is
currently serves on faculty at the Aurora School of Music and is a volunteer teacher at the Cleveland School of the Arts.
Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, Julie began her violin studies at the age of 4 and soon made her mark locally by winning the University of Alaska Fairbanks Young Artist Competition and solo opportunities with the Fairbanks Symphony by age 11. At 15, she became one of the youngest members of the Fairbanks Symphony and toured with the Arctic Chamber Orchestra. In 2009, she soloed for English Royalty in New York and performed at Carnegie Hall with the BYU Chamber Orchestra. In 2007, she won the BYU Concerto Competition and soloed with the University's Philharmonic. Julie was also selected as a member of the BYU Honors Quartet, and was coached by the Guarneri String Quartet.
