After attaining first place in all rounds of the three-tiered competition, Hillary Brunner was named the National Woodwind Winner of the MTNA solo competition in 2008, performing the Pasculli Grand Concerto on Themes from Verdi's 'I Vespri Siciliani' and the Goossens Concerto in One Movement from memory. Twice she was named first place winner in the Golden Key International Honour Society instrumental performance competition. At Western Illinois University, Ms. Brunner won the School of Music concerto competition in 2007, 2005, and 2003.
Passionate about music education, Ms. Brunner has been teaching privately since 2000. Her students have placed in IL district and all-state bands/orchestras and have been accepted into universities as music majors. Hillary Brunner currently serves as principal oboe for the St. Ann Chamber Orchestra. Her primary teachers include Frank Rosenwein and Michael Ericson.
