A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Tate first came to Ohio to study music at Kent State University. While studying at Kent State, he participated in multiple ensembles as both a trumpet player and a piano/keyboard player and was section leader when his section was awarded Section of the Year (KSU Marching Golden Flashes), a four-year section leader for the basketball band, accompanist for the Kent State Gospel Choir's Eastern European Tour, and a featured soloist for KSU Jazz Ensemble 1 at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival. Outside of the university, Mr. Tate is an active performer both locally and across the region, participating in community events and playing regularly with the band Winslow.
Mr. Tate's teachers include Michael Chunn, Chas Baker, and Dr. Christopher Krummel.
