Carie Volkar (lyric soprano) has performed with the Michigan Opera Theatre, Opera Cleveland, the University of Akron Opera Theatre, and the Cassidy Theatre.  She has also performed at venues from the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, Detroit Opera House, State Theatre in Playhouse Square, Auditorium Theatre of Michigan State University, E.J. Thomas Hall, and the Akron Civic Theatre.  Ms. Volkar has been seen as Musetta in La Bohème, Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring, Bastienne in Bastien und Bastienne, Lucy in The Telephone, Ännchen in Der Freischütz, Lucy Lockit in The Beggar's Opera, Leonora in Captain Lovelock, Marzelline in Fidelio and Serpetta in La Finta Giardiniera.

Ms. Volkar was a featured soloist with The University of Akron Orchestra singing Adele's "Mein Herr Marquis" from Die Fledermaus and premiered orchestral arrangements of works from Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch. Ms. Volkar has performed extensively in Italy as part of the Spoleto Festival and Corofest Umbria. Ms. Volkar has been a featured soloist with Epworth-Euclid United Methodist Church, First Grace United Church of Christ, First Congregational Church, and Trinity Lutheran singing works such as Ralph Vaughn-Williams' Serenade to Music, Fauré's Requiem, Händel's Messiah, and Mendelssohn's Elijah.

Ms. Volkar is currently studying with Cynthia Wohlschlager at The Cleveland Institute of Music; she is a graduate of The University of Akron receiving a Masters of Music in Voice Performance and Music History and Literature. She has received many honors such as the First Grace United Church of Christ Grant and Ruby S. Bird Scholarship from Tuesday Musical Club Competition. She is currently on the music faculty at Cuyahoga Community College and the Aurora School of Music.
